Hannah and Robbie's daughter Rylee loves bike riding with D&T's daughter in Florida. Her cyclist Alexis proves you can teach a Westie to enjoy just about any sport you enjoy. Rylee and Andy's full brother Sig live with my mother and me.

For those not familiar with West Highland White Terriers, the breed is amongst the most charming, loyal, affectionate and intelligent of the terrier family. Sean Kelly wrote: The American Kennel Club recognizes 27 terrier breeds and officially describes them as "stubborn," "tenacious,". "feisty," "independent" and "with boundless energy." Westies are a small breed, seldom growing to over 20 lbs. Westies are extremely active and playful, with puppy-like characteristics carried over into maturity.

Most Westies enjoy having their own toys, in fact our friend FishCaptain has a Westie who can fetch any of his 8 toys by name and then insist on interactive play with that particular toy. Westies can also have a serious side and are usually in tune with their masters. They will announce all visitors with a bark but seldom become vicious. Originally bred for chasing down vermin, Westies make excellent companion dogs. They love their power hugs but never sit still for long. Their bright and inquisitive nature is a delight to behold.

A Westie's hard dry coat requires grooming on a regular basis and most look forward to the attention of brushing, stripping, and haircuts. Westies are white as their name indicates. Wheaten color along the dorsal stripe in early puppyhood usually disappears with maturity and some darker hair on the muzzle and around the eyes is not uncommon. The breed standard calls for hard double coat which is seldom found and greatly admired. Introduce your puppy to a stripping comb as early as possible and follow the standard for Westie grooming for best results.

Our puppies are raised with love and attention in the house. All puppies are thoroughly examined at six and eight weeks of age, given appropriate shots, and de-wormed when necessary by our local vet. It is our good pleasure to handle each baby daily to familiarize the puppies with people and promote human bonding. At eight weeks of age, the Westie is ready for your lifetime commitment. Please pay the balance in cash or request deposit refund.

Every litter of purebred Westie puppies is registered with AKC. We will sell Westies on non-breeding agreement with limited AKC registration for companions but the outstanding puppies are sold with full registration rights with no added stipulations such as co-ownership or puppy back agreements. Sometimes we ask for stud service but that is by gentlemen's agreement reached at the time of sale and expires before the Westie is three years old.

Westie lovers who share our passion for the breed welcome the privilege of breeding even better puppies and will share good genes with other breeders for a handsome price. If a kennel sells all the puppies as companions on non-breeding agreements with limited registrations, no one makes a contribution to the breed. Genetics is a number game and each litter is another chance to improve the breed. We do our best to make sure every puppy is genetically sound and leaves the farm in excellent health for a long life in his/her new home. Breeding takes dedication and time so don't feel guilty if you want limited registration.

All companion puppies sometimes with minor faults are ready for release to their new homes at eight weeks of age and have limited registration papers; breeding quality takes longer for evaluation. AKC breed standard is the guide. Digital photos available upon request; prices are based on mating, sex, and rank in the litter. Deposits accepted on unborn puppies or after whelping are refundable until sale day for whatever reason; after the puppy, leaves the deposit is non-refundable.

Though matter how involved a kennel owner may be in the show circuit, every litter has companion quality puppies to offer Westie pet buyers. Breeding champion to champion is no guarantee of producing a champion puppy because genetics is a breeder's gamble. As breeders like to say, breed best to best and hope for the best.

You are buying a character when you buy a Westie especially from my kennel. Our puppies' new owners testify over and over again that they have a Westie they will never forget as long as they live. That fantastic breed character combined with lots of nurturing is why Westies are the cadillac of terriers.
