Carlene Farms

About About Back

We are a family farm owned by the Fintons, and located outside New Philadelphia, Ohio in Tuscarawas County.

The primary owner's right now are Cliff and Connie Finton, but we owe a great deal to the previous generation mom and dad, Carl and Arline Finton and we are working with the next generation Charlie and Lisa Finton and our grandsons #1 Christian and #2 Kurt . There are other Fintons too. Matt Finton is our computer expert and morning calf feeder who tests equipment for The Gradall Company. We also have a Texas family branch, Suzanne Finton Loy and her husband J.D., parents of grandson #3 JD Jr.

Animated Cow We are dairy farmers and right now we have 80 cows in the milking herd and since we raise our replacements there are lots of young females waiting to grow into the herd. Our herd is black and white, and for those of you just learning about dairy farms, they are called Holsteins.

We also raise hay and corn on our farm as feed for our cattle. Our farm has been in this family since Cliff's grandfather purchased it and has survived depression, drought and fire. With Gods continued blessings and our hard work, we hope to be able to continue providing food for our fellow Americans well into the future. The United States Government reports that each farmer feeds 129 people and they count us as 3 farmers, so we are responsible for feeding 387 people and we take that seriously and do the very best we can to produce a safe adequate food supply for this country.

Our farm has supported 3 universities and while we root mainly for the Buckeyes of Ohio State, we also have a graduate of Kent State University and a graduate of Texas Christian University.

We support and encourage higher education and our farm supports research projects at The Ohio State University through a voluntary, contribution program and we encourage other farms to join us as partners in The Ohio Dairy Research Fund. Just like everyone else, we have lots of interests. Connie has been active in many community projects including over 25 years as a hospital volunteer and now has COWS & THINGS an on line Cow Shop. She has also been an active leader in our Co-op. And serves on many boards and committees. She especially enjoys her work on the ADADC Mideast Board serving the dairy industry in our area and promoting MOOKOOLERS, the new 2% flavored milk in a kid friendly plastic recyclable bottle The guys have a line of old John Deeres and are all active in the York Volunteer Fire Department where Cliff is Chief. We have 2 pilots in the family along with a Cessna. Our Texas family consists of a dancer, a chef and a miniature farmer.

We are always happy to talk to people about farming and if you have any questions, be sure to contact us at: carlene@tusco.net
