Reports received of alleged physical, sexual, or emotional abuse or neglect of children are investigated, and the risk to the children is assessed.  Based on the assessment, referrals are made to appropriate services or a case is opened to further work with the family to eliminate the risk.

  • Our Protective Services Unit receives referrals of child abuse and neglect and investigates the reports.
  • Families with children who are identified as high risk for abuse and/or neglect are assigned a case manager in our Case Management Units.  Case Managers, with the family, develop a case plan which identifies what steps will be taken to reduce risk so the child is able to live in a safe, stable, permanent environment, which allows for healthy growth and development.
  • In our Placement Unit, staff recruits, trains, and completes home studies on foster and adoptive parents.  When a child cannot remain with his/her birth family, and relative/kinship homes are unavailable, then the agency identifies the least restrictive temporary, substitute care setting for the child.
  • Children in the permanent custody of the agency are placed for adoption.  Post-Adoption Services are available to all adopted persons and adoptive parents.  Information and referral services are provided to any birth parent considering making an adoption plan for his/her unborn child.
