What is the Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT)?
A system through which Food Stamp benefits are dispersed. Information is encoded in a micro chip embedded in a plastic card resembling a credit card. At the designated grocery store(s), the client enters a pin number and scans the card, the amount purchased is deducted electronically from the individual's or family's total monthly allotment of Food Stamp benefits.
A designated individual must attend a scheduled training session at Tuscarawas County Job & Family Services before the EBT card is activated.
