Witnesses for the will were Hiram Eckman and Matthias
Dunning. Widow Catharine turned her executrix to
Matthias Dunning.
Will of William Hill-
I William Hill of the County of Tuscarawas in the state
of Ohio do make and publish this my last will and
testament in manner and form following that is to say.
First - it is my will that my funeral expenses and all
my just debts be fully paid. Second - I give and
bequeath to my beloved wife Catharine Hill all my real
and personal estate during her natural life she however
first dispursing of a sufficiency thereof out of the
aforesaid estate to pay just debts as aforesaid and at
the death of my said wife all the property hereby
devised or bequeathed to her as aforesaid or so much
thereof as may then remain unexpended to my children in
manner following. First to give and devise to my
daughter Mary intermarried with Adam Garnaham and Ann
Gearing, William Hill, Elizabeth intermarried with
Michael Harper, Sally intermarried with William Wilson,
Susan Hill and Nancy Hill all and each eight dollars and
to my two youngest children Matilda Hill and John Hill
the remainder of the aforesaid estate to be equally
divided between them each an equal share. And lastly I
hereby constitute and appoint my said wife Catharine
Hill to be my executor for this my last will and
testament, ratifying and confirming this and no other to
be my last will and testatment.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
seal this 21st day of December A.D., one thousand eight
hundred and thirty-six.

William Hill as and for his last will and testament in
presence of us who at his request have signed as
witnesses to the same.

The State of Ohio
Tuscarawas County
Court of Common Pleas 5th, April A.D. 1837. The last
will and testament of William Hill dec'd was this day
brought into Court and proven to the satisfaction of the
court to be the last will and testament of the said
William Hill dec'd by Hiram Eckman and Matthias Dunning
and subscribing witnesses to said will, who testified
that the said testator declared the sam to be his last
will and testament, that he knew the contents thereof
and declared the same to be his last will and testament,
that he was of full age, of sound mind and memory and
not under any restraint. Whereupon the court order that
letters of administration with the will annexed by
granted to Matthias Dunning (Catharine Hill the "ido"
and executrix named in said will having declined taking
upon herself the execution thereof) that he give bond in
the sum of four hundred dollars Samuel Knouse and John
Demuth being offered were approved as security and James
Myers, George Shamel and Samuel Romig are appointed to
appraise said estate. Whereupon the said Admr. Was
sworn.
