John M. Fitch of Irish ancestors. Deceased son of David Fitch,
born in Guernsey County in 1820. Married in 1840 to Miss Hester
McCleary, born in Virginia 1823. Born to them were 14 children,
James, Elizabeth, Lucinda, John, Louisa, Margaret, Hannah,
David, Sarah (mother of (Minnia?), Frank, and myself), Susan,
George, Hattie, Frank, Hester. 6 are married and the rest are at
home. Mr. David Fitch died in 1874 age 54 yr, always lived in
Coshocton County. Since their marriage lived on the farm where
his widow lives, farm of 337 acres. They lived in a log cabin at
the
time of his death. They were building an 8 room frame house, his
wife had it finished and lived there many years, later she moved
to
a property in West Lafayette. The property now owned by Andy
Miller located on West Main St.

DAVID FITCH DIES AT
HIS HOME ON ELM-ST
HERE LATE MONDAY
David Fitch, 65, died at his home, 607 Elm St. Monday evening at
6:30 o'clock following a few week illness from complications of
diseases. Mr. Fitch was born in West Lafayette, August 9, 1955.
He lived there until 21 years ago when he moved to Coshocton to
make his home. Previous to his illness he was employed as a
carpenter at the H.D. Beach plant on the hill.
The news of Mr. Fitch's death Monday
evening brot sorrow to
his many friends and relatives. He was widely known.
His widow, Mary Melissa, and one son Ernest
of the late home,
survive. There are two brothers and six sisters, Frank Fitch,
Massillon; James Fitch, Indiana; Mrs. John Coles and Mrs.
Monroe Hall of West Lafayette; Mrs. Charles Miller, Columbus;
Mrs. George Miller, Delaware; Mrs. Susan Clayton, Hudson, Ohio;
and Mrs. Lucinda Powelson, Great Bend, Kansas.
Short funeral services will be held at
the late home Wednesday
afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. The regular services will be held at
West
Lafayette M. E. church at 3:00 o'clock.
Interment will be made in Fairview cemetery
at West Lafayette.

WIDOW, 75 DIES
AT HOME OF SON
Mrs. Mary Melissa Fitch, 75, died at the
home of her son,
Ernest Fitch, West Lafayette Route 1 Wednesday afternoon at 6:30
from complications.
She was born April 21, 1866, near Orange,
the daughter of
George Washington and Mary Smith Fitch. She was the last of 15
children.
On Jan. 3, 1886, she was married to David
Fitch, who preceded
her in death Oct. 4, 1920. Two sons died in infancy.
Surviving are one son, Ernest Fitch, four
grandchildren and a
large number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday
afternoon at 2 o'clock at
the Rehard-Bonnell funeral home in West Lafayette, with Rev. C.
Lloyd Yoder, pastor of the Main st. Methodist church, officiating.
Burial will be in the Fairfield cemetery.

Frank Fitch Dies
Here Early Sunday
Of Heart Disease
Frank Fitch died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday at
the home of a niece,
Mrs. William Renner, 336 North Third Street, after a brief illness
with heart disease. He was 76.
Mr. Fitch was born near West Lafayette,
May 25, 1866, a son of
John M. and Hester McCleary Fitch. He was married in 1894 to
Mary Lacey, who preceded him in death 33 years ago. A son
Forrest Fitch is also deceased.
Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Charles Miller
of Columbus.
Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Tuesday
at the Glass funeral
home, 710 Main st., in charge of Rev. Clarence Higgins of St.
John's Evangelical and Reformed church. Burial will be in the
Baptist cemetery at West Lafayette. Friends will be received at
the
funeral home until time for service.
